This year I was fortunate enough to see the family of deer that reside in Woodland Cemetery have five fawns. Fawns are typically born in June and loose their trademark white spots after a couple of months. The cemetery provides excellent cover for the little ones to hide in front of the headstones. Mom is able to leave her little one and feed while baby is safe from harm.
It was really amazing to watch as these fawns explored and took in the world around them. Even though it seemed they weren’t very strong on their feet, they would go off running without any difficulty. Each time I would visit them, they were bigger and stronger looking. Being able to watch them grow up was a wonderful privilege and I count myself very lucky.
I have included some photos below taken over the summer months.
